Hello !!! This is Masitha and Asha, and this is our first travel post to our blogger on our travel story. Let's begin.
We had heard that Ella is one of the up coming tourist destinations in Sri Lanka (mostly for backpackers) but we were actually not interested in going there as we were not so aware of that but after sometime back when I was browsing on the internet, I saw a beautiful picture on Facebook, there was a girl sitting on a small rock surrounding huge mountains and hills in the sun rise. Wow.
It suddenly made me interested and found out that is Ella Rock.
So I asked Asha if we can go and explore Ella in September and she was okay, after that I was planning the tour to ella. when I was searching for accommodation in Ella I realized that there are many home stays than hotels in Ella on Trip Advisior and Booking.com. Many of them had really good reviews and rankings. So I decided to go with Will Home Stay which had many good reviews and at a low budget rate. (USD 28 on BB per night per room)
Next I tried to book a train from Colombo to Ella for 16th of September 2016 coz I knew that it is the best ride by train to Ella from Colombo but unfortunately all the bookings were sold out one month in advance and we really needed to go to Ella by train for the second time as it is an amazing journey ( We had traveled to Badulla on the same route once)So I changed the dates on Booking.com from September to 15th of October.
Our plan is basically to do the trek to Ella rock early in the morning even if there are other tourist attractions in Ella such as Little Adam's peak, Rawana Falls etc.
So regarding traveling to Ella there are government trains and private companies' trains. The trains operated by private are quite expensive than government normal trains but more comfortable. Government Train and Expo Rail ( Expo rail has the higher rates among all others).
We will back to you once we start the tour to Ella.
